Run of Just 82 Custom Coaches Will Mark Special Birthday.
After more than 50 years of creating some of the most sought after motorcoaches in the RV industry, Tiffin Motorhomes has one-upped themselves. In celebration of Bob Tiffin’s 82nd birthday, a limited edition Allegro Bus has been commissioned to commemorate this event. The most significant fact about this dream birthday coach is that there will only be 82 of them built.
We often hear the term “instant classic” when speaking of a sporting event or a limited release automobile. That term will now be well-applied to these 82 custom coaches, officially dubbed the 45 BTP, that will feature a silver plaque beside the entry door proudly proclaiming “Bob Tiffin, Limited Edition, Since 1972.”
The Vision
The vision for this soon-to-be-lauded rolling masterpiece was very simple, not unlike compiling your favorite recipes in a book or your favorite paintings in a gallery. Led by Bob’s grandson and current Tiffin President, Leigh Tiffin, the coach is a compilation of all of Bob’s favorite fabrics, features, function, and form together in one motorcoach. I can’t help but imagine the idea germinating at least in some part from Bob’s own celebrated collection of his favorite automobiles.
The Build
When you are one of the top motorcoach builders in the world, you have a pretty good start on building a custom coach. Beginning with Mr. Tiffin’s favorite Allegro Bus, this Limited Edition coach is adorned in a color scheme billed as Great Smoky Mountains, suggesting Bob’s love of mountains and water. The exterior paint color chosen for coach number BTP 01 is titled “Waterfall”, with a brilliant blue, black, and gray pattern. Cinderwood and Nasa will be offered as well. Interior design shapes and other decor give nods to Bob’s love of the Southwest, and custom Tottori front seats featuring Bob’s embroidered signature add an exclusive touch to this limited edition coach.
The living area is a robust 440 square foot with slides fully extended, reminding us of Bob Tiffin’s early adoption and refinement of mechanized slide rooms. Bob’s fondness for the Packard automobile is evident in this build as well. Two of Bob’s favorite Packards, Maggie and Mable, are represented as framed prints in the dining area. Quoting from Tiffin’s press release;
“The sound bar above the TV has a silver trim enclosure with rounded edges, a Packard inspired design element taken from their windshield. In the middle of the living space, the slide trim element above offers a mirrored almost oval shape with vertical lines. This design incorporates the lines of the classic Packard front grill and is used throughout the coach.”
Tiffin Allegro Bus
The 45 BTP will ride the popular PowerGlide® Raised Rail Rear Engine Diesel Chassis, chosen for its superior ride and performance. It’s safe to expect features like a 450 HP Cummins diesel power plant, Allison 3000 MH 6-speed transmission, and an Onan Quiet Diesel RV QD 10,000 Generator, currently available on existing 45-foot Allegro Bus models.
Revealing the Tiffin 45 BTP
Tiffin will officially reveal the Bob Tiffin Limited Edition 45 BTP at the Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa, Florida later this month. Leigh Tiffin, President of Tiffin Motorhomes, and grandson of Bob Tiffin, speaks frequently about recognizing and honoring the special history, culture, and legacy of the company. The introduction of the Bob Tiffin Limited Edition Bus, 45 BTP, is another step in celebrating this extraordinary man and the company he built.
Leigh Tiffin is expected to appear on the RV LIFE Podcast on Wednesday January 17th, recorded live at the Freightliner booth during the RV show. If you are at the SuperShow, don’t miss this opportunity to stop by and hear the details for yourself. Podcast listeners that can’t make it to the show should subscribe to the RV LIFE Podcast on all popular podcast platforms to be alerted when the episode gets published.
About Tiffin Motorhomes
Tiffin Motorhomes, born as a family-owned business by Bob Tiffin in 1972, has built over 90,000 motorhomes, pioneering many of the features we now take for granted, such as basements, wrap-around windshields and slides. Popular Tiffin models such as the Phaeton and Allegro Bus have set the standard for affordable luxury for decades, offering features, price points, and build standards that have been difficult for others to equal. Tiffin Motorhomes are available through National Indoor RV Centers and other fine motorcoach dealers.
Bob Tiffin himself is known for his open-door policy and willingness to speak with anyone and everyone he can if asked. He famously takes selfies with Tiffin motorcoach owners, often signing the inside of a cabinet door in Shelby-esque fashion.
