The Little Guy Max by Xtreme Outdoors

Going lighter doesn’t necessarily mean going without.

There are now a plethora of smaller, lighter campers that have all the amenities you need in a comfortable camping setup. One of these options is the Little Guy Max by Xtreme Outdoors.

The Little Guy Max is the largest of the Little Guy brand of trailers from Xtreme Outdoors. The little siblings of this version are the Micro Max and Mini Max.

Coming in at just over 3,000 lbs. dry weight, the Little Guy Max features not only nearly seven feet of interior height and a queen bed, but also a full wet bath with shower. If you need a little extra sleeping room, the European-style dinette with the Lagun table transforms into a twin bed.

The interior

Designed and built by Xtreme Outdoors in Somerset, Pennsylvania, the Max features the same Amish-made quality that is part of Xtreme Outdoors’ other lines of smaller trailers.

These quality features include 100% hardwood cabinets, tubular steel chassis construction, direct ducted furnace, 5,000 BTU AC, massive insulated dual-pane windows with shades and screens, and recessed lighting.

The kitchen

While we are excited about the wet bath, the main part of the camper is dedicated to a spacious cooking and storage space, which makes this camper really useful. The kitchen contains a deep sink, a two-burner stove, a microwave, and a 1.9 cubic foot Dometic fridge.

The storage options in the kitchen include overhead cabinets, drawers, a pull-out pantry, and a hanging closet. These can be used for food, kitchen supplies, clothing, or other gear. The open cabinet above the fridge would be great for those items you tend to grab the most.

Storage such as a pull-out pantry and full closet are located in the kitchen area.

The wet bath

The aforementioned wet bath is nicely tucked next to the fridge and doesn’t encroach on the rest of the space. The height works best for someone under six feet tall and includes an adjustable shower and a marine toilet. There is no sink, which keeps the bathroom more spacious. You will need to use the kitchen sink to wash your hands.

The bedroom

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about the bed. The 60×80 inch bed is tucked into a cubby space next to the kitchen to give you a little bit of privacy. The cubby area feels more open with the large skylight window and a side window that does open for airflow.

The exterior of the Max is sleek and stylish and comes in silver or white. Trim colors come in black, silver, or red. The trailer is lifted with 14-inch tires and has a two-inch receiver on the rear to carry a bike rack or other storage racks. The exterior also has a 40-inch deep exterior cargo compartment with a magnetic latch door.

The water, gray, and black tanks on this trailer might be a little smaller than what you are used to, but they are still adequate for a small family or couple. The freshwater tank comes in at 20 gallons, and the gray is 25 to 30 gallons. The black is a bit small at only nine gallons, so be conservative with those flushes.

Upgrades for this trailer include some nice options such as 100-watt solar panels, awnings, and visors. The FROLI Star Bed Kit and the Rough Rider Package with 15-inch tires and an additional 2.5-inch riser are also available. For additional power, the Max can be upgraded with an expandable inverter from Cotek and a lithium battery. The kit also includes the Victron Smart Shunt and Smart Battery Protector.

The Max can only be purchased from dealers around the country. However, Xtreme Outdoors does offers thorough online tours of the Max via 3D or video.

So, what’s the benefit of buying a smaller towable trailer? A smaller truck or larger SUV can easily tow the Max due to its lighter weight. For example, a standard Ford F-150 can tow around 5,000 lbs. This gives you plenty of wiggle room to carry full water tanks and plenty of gear and food.
