I always thought having one of these would be a good idea, since you never really know what kind of condition the post you plug your power into really is. This unit is larger than I expected it to be, but it is solid and feels like it'll last a long time. So far, this thing has worked great! It has so far properly shown open ground/open neutral issues at a few campgrounds. I have been able to verify the wiring faults with my multimeter. The cool thing with this plug is it's an instant result. You plug this in first, then you know what your dealing with before you plug in your camper. I'm not sure how good the surge suppression is, but as I said, it seems to be a solid unit, so I'm pretty confident adding this is still better protection than nothing at all!
The price is right around average on this unit compared to other budget options on the market. I'd recommend this to anyone with a 30amp service on their RV that wants an affordable but quality option for shore power at their campsite.
