I needed to replace the backup camera on my car because it was fogging up but I didn't want the hassle of removing the old camera and pass new wires. The solar4b is a snap to install: just plug-in the monitor in the 12v outlet in your car and place the magnetic camera in the back... that's it! The image quality is very good with a wide view, fast refresh rate and no glitches. The night vision is excellent. It's been very cold outside (-20ºC) and the camera/monitor still perform perfectly. I've used this setup for a few weeks and the camera battery has held up good, still showing full as of today. The magnet on the camera is very strong so I'm not afraid it will fall even on rough roads. I also have the original Solar4 on my camper van and it's been performing very well so I'm confident the new Solar4b will also be excellent. I was looking for a back-up camera and found this one. I am so glad I did. The camera was very easy to set up and the display is awesome. It even has great visibility in low light and at night. The wireless magnetic camera makes it easy to move around. This is a great back-up camera, especially for hauling trailers, etc. and I highly recommend it.

Overall the camera and monitor work great. Due to the magnetic base it makes the camera easy to move to whatever vehicle you will be towing.

The camera and screen both work well. I see this camera more for use with an additional vehicle, such as a utility or travel trailer, or towing another vehicle or boat. The mounting system and lack of auto turn on when using it as a primary backup camera leaves room for improvement, but I don't think that is what this camera was designed for.

I haven't installed this in my car yet but it is the exact same camera as the Solar4 system that I have, only the monitor is smaller 5", while my Solar4 is 7". The smaller monitor will fit better in my car. I have charged the camera and hooked it up inside to be sure it works. I have been very happy with this camera, have one on the back of my Toyhauler RV and a magnetic mount one inside to watch my motorcycle while we are traveling. I can easily remove it to put on the back of my truck. I am quite pleased with Auto-Vox products, camera battery lasts a long time and monitor has a good clear picture.

I use this backup camera when I have a bike hitch with loaded bikes attached to my SUV. My SUV has an existing camera, but my bikes blocks its view, so having this portable camera solves the problem. The magnet on this camera is strong enough to place on top of my car roof and get a birds eye view of the back. I like that I can turn on the camera with a push of a button. This means I can see whatever is behind me, whenever I want, even when the car is not in reverse. This is helpful when I’m on the freeway and want to check up on my bikes attached to my hitch. The camera allows me to swivel up and down to adjust to the right angle. Note the camera cannot swivel left or right, but that shouldn’t matter since the magnet allows the camera to be place anywhere that’s metallic.

When I’m not using this backup camera, it does double duty as either a baby monitor or outdoor camera. I can place the camera in my kids room to monitor them or put the camera outside to check up on outdoor activity. Note in order to do this, you will need to power the monitor through a USB to cigarette adapter (not included).

The screen looks high definition; colors are reasonably accurate; images are sufficiently sharp; and the refresh rate offers flicker-free viewing. The camera has infrared LEDS light that light up red for night-time/low light conditions. The switching between daylight and nighttime conditions is done automatically. Installation was super easy since there’s no car wiring for the camera that needs to be done. However, note that means after some time of usage, the camera will need to be recharged.

The camera is a bulky, so I would only recommend using this for “heavy duty” or uncommon applications where function overrides esthetics. Overall I am happy with this purchase and would recommend to others.
