I used this camera off and on for a couple of weeks then only maybe once a week. It lost the picture and shows only static after six weeks of purchase date.
UPDATE: The company responded to my review reached out to me and replaced the whole system free of charge. So far the new camera is working great. Thank you

Would have been better if it was wireless but I'm not complaining. The images are crisp.

I have a small 22ft Airstream that me and my service dog, Maggie May, use on occasion to go to the mountains or to the beach. Even though it's small, it can still be difficult to navigate into tight spaces. Also, when driving the highway, it's good to see who is behind you and if you're backing up traffic. It's not easy to find good quality cameras and monitor to do this job. I haven't had a chance to do the install on my Airstream, but with initial testing everything seems to be good - picture quality, monitor quality, video quality....all good. Now just need the time to do a complete install. Can I buy that on Amazon too?? lol

Just couldn’t wire it to reverse but it’s on all the time which I don’t mind since I can turn off the monitor using the provided remote control

I installed this rear view camera on my pickup truck. After getting accustomed to having a rear view camera in my car, I really missed being able to see what was behind me - and especially what was approaching from the sides in a parking lot situation - when backing up the truck. The reasonable price of this product made ordering it impossible to resist; but installation was something that I kept putting off because crawling along on my back underneath my pickup wasn't something I relished.

But I finally ran out of excuses and tackled the installation job. It turned out to be a mixed bag: I needed to fabricate a small, simple custom mounting bracket to be able to mount the camera in a sheltered location next to the trailer hitch below the tailgate. Routing the wire from the camera along the frame below the truck bed wasn't too hard, just a lot of crawling on my back and using cable ties (which were not included in the installation kit) to hold the cable securely in place. Drilling a hole in the bottom of the cab floor in the area behind the seats (where judging by the lack of road dirt and grim in that location it was less likely to allow water to enter along with the cable) wasn't too hard even though the sheet metal floor consisted of a double layer of metal and the hole had to be nearly 3/4" diameter to accommodate the plug on the end of the cable. I used the included rubber grommet to protect the cable from the sharp metal edges of my hole. Routing the cable inside the cab was more difficult - hiding it under and/or along the edge of the carpet beneath edge covering panels and then routing it out of sight along the bottom edge of the dash. Finding a location to stash all the extra feet of cable in a safe, hidden location was one of my biggest problems since I chose not to leave it exposed to the elements under the truck ... and my little pickup didn't need even half of the 40+ feet of pre-terminated cable that comes with this kit.

Upon determining that attaching the cable to the connections at the fuse panel would require removing a major section of the interior trim and dash panel, I opted for the easier although less "automatic functioning" power connection via a cigarette lighter plug-in connection. Fortunately a nice push-button
plug is provided for that option. It can be left "On" for full time viewing of the rear camera's scene, or (as I intend to use it) it can be turned "On" via that lighted push button on the cigarette plug whenever wanting to see that view from the rear camera when backing up and then turned "Off" when that operation is completed. When connecting power to the camera system in this manner everything is simply Plug-and-Play using the included cables.

I was pleasantly surprised at how sharp, clear, and bright the view coming from the rear view camera appeared on the 7 inch diagonal digital LED screen which I mounted low on my dash above the center console (just below the HVAC and radio controls and above where the ash tray drawer would have been). My photo showing the active screen was taken from inside my garage at night with the rear of the pickup about 3 feet inside the door ... and the wide view camera allows you to see both sides of the open door and about a foot of the floor inside the garage.

The scene displayed by this rear camera system is highly adjustable: brightness, contrast, color tint, etc. And, if you had an additional camera to add to it, it can even display images from two connected cameras by switching between them by means of a button on the bottom edge of the display screen.

When I first tried using the screen image to help me back up I kept turning the wrong direction ... until I discovered that I could flip the image left to right. There are actually many different modes of viewing: with and without guidelines, flipped views left-right, up-down, etc. And the guidelines are very customizable making them shorter-longer, wider-narrower, more left or right, etc. About the only thing that can't be done using this product is to show where a turning vehicle will end up (as my OEM system can do on my car) since it is not connected to the steering system.

Installation was easy enough, as I am a mechanic. Just had to drill and tap holes for the mounting bracket, on the vehicle, and run the 4 wire video cable to the front, where I installed the monitor, powered off of a 12v fuse. The instructions were also clear and easy to understand. If you are not mechanically inclined, it may be more difficult.

The reason for the 3 star review is that the camera housing is NOT waterproof, as stated in the listing. I live in California and it has been raining more than usual. I have not submerged the camera, like in the video on the listing, but the heavy rain (about 2 weeks worth) has been enough for water to get into the camera housing and distort the view from the lense to the monitor. I can still see figures, sort of, but the image is no longer clear. If not for this, the picture quality was pretty good and I would give 5 stars, but this is false advertising, and now I have to purchase another camera and run the wire all the way to the monitor again. If you live in a dry climate, I'd definitely recommend this setup. If it rains where you live, I would not.

I only get Vine items that I plan to use personally or for someone in my family and I do a fair review based on our assessment and use of the product. I leave 1 star up to 5 stars if I really like the product and didn't find any issues with it.

This RV backup camera seems to be really well made. I haven't tested out very much how waterproof it is so I will have to keep an eye on that. The picture quality, details, and color are great and I like the night time IR as well; it is so helpful. I was so glad to get this to add to my RV because it is super hard to backup without someone who can help you effectively. My wife tries, but she pretty much just stands there and doesn't know what to tell me so this was a great addition for me. I will try to add some video and pictures to my review later.

I hope this RV backup camera lasts us a long time, but I will update my review should we have any trouble with it in the future.
