Imagine AIM travel trailers have been branded with the tagline: Adventure in Motion. This accurately summarizes everything that these RVs stand for. They are well constructed, resilient to temperature changes, easy to tow, and perfect for any type of adventure you want to take.

There are four new floorplans under the Imagine AIM umbrella, as well as several noteworthy features and benefits. Let’s explore these Grand Design RV travel trailers so you can decide if they fit the bill for your next RVs. There’s a lot to talk about, so let’s get started!

Lightweight Design

One of the main appeals of these trailers is that they are designed to be compact and lightweight. Not everyone has access to a powerful truck, so the options for towable RVs are limited. Grand Design wanted to create trailers that could be towed by SUVs and other mid-sized vehicles, thus the Imagine AIM lineup was born.

These trailers range in length between 20–22 feet. They’re fairly compact, but they manage to fit all the travel necessities and storage space that you need for a great road trip adventure. They also weigh between 3,500–4,000 pounds but some can weigh up to 5,000 pounds.

As our day-to-day vehicles become more powerful and efficient, the selection of potential tow vehicles is quite large. You won’t need a huge truck to haul these Grand Design RV trailers around and this is one of the biggest appeals of the new Imagine AIM trailers.

Four-Season Camping Abilities

Lots of people want to continue their RV adventures all year long, even when the temperatures are extremely hot or cold. In order to have a good experience, the RV should be built to withstand all sorts of temperature ranges.

Once again, the Grand Design RV Imagine AIM lineup has you covered. The floor, roof, and front cap are all double insulated and every wall is fully laminated to prevent drafts or leakage. These vehicles are created with superior insulation and customers have the opportunity to add an Arctic 4-Seasons Protection Package.

This upgrade includes features like an enclosed/heated underbelly, heated dump valves, a roof attic vent, and a highly efficient furnace.

During product testing, the Imagine AIM travel trailers were able to withstand temperatures as low as -6 and as high as 101 degrees Fahrenheit. No matter where or when you travel, you’ll be able to enjoy a comfortable and well-insulated living space.

If you want to go one step further, you can also add the solar package to any one of trailers. You can truly camp anywhere you want during any season you want. This level of freedom is one of the biggest appeals of these new vehicles.

Floorplans

Customers can choose between a variety of Imagine AIM floorplans. These are all fairly similar in size, but their layouts are all completely different. There are a couple of bunkhouse models, plus other options that include convertible sleeping spaces. Each trailer contains necessities like a kitchenette, bathroom, and storage space throughout.

Grand Design RV thought of everything. Check out the following four different options so you can decide which one would best suit your travel needs. Prices start at $31,937.

15BH

  • Unladen Vehicle Weight: 3,560 lbs
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 4,795 lbs
  • Hitch Weight: 425 lbs
  • Exterior Length: 19; 11″
  • Fresh Water/Grey Water/Black Water: 42 gal/74 gal/37 gal

The 15BH is an affordable and lighter-weight option. In spite of the shorter length, it still makes great use of the space. It’s a bunkhouse, but it combines the bunk bed and a full-sized bed to maximize the sleeping space.

The back half of the trailer is split, with a bathroom on one side and a bedroom on the other. The bottom bed has a 60 x 80-inch mattress with a 40 x 80-inch bunk installed above it.

The front half contains the dining room/kitchen. A booth-style dinette sits along one wall, while the kitchen wraps around in a U-shape. There’s a ton of countertop space in this design, which is perfect if you love to cook and/or need a lot of room for your kitchen appliances.

There’s also storage space along the back and side walls of the camper, as well as an exterior spray port, a griddle, a universal docking station, and a 14-foot awning.

15RB

  • Unladen Vehicle Weight: 3,594 lbs
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 4,795 lbs
  • Hitch Weight: 378 lbs
  • Exterior Length: 19′ 11″
  • Fresh Water/Grey Water/Black Water: 42 gal/74 gal/37 gal

Next up is the 15RB. This is the same length as the 15BH, but the layout is quite different. It also doesn’t have the same lower storage compartments.

The rear portion of this trailer is occupied by a full-width bathroom. There’s room for a toilet, shower, sink, vanity, medicine cabinet, and even a linen closet. A short hallway leads to the bathroom and the kitchen/dining fixtures line both walls. Amenities include a booth-style dinette, a pantry, a large sink, and lots of overhead storage cabinets.

The front portion of this floorplan contains a queen Murphy bed. During the day, it can retract into a neat sofa with storage drawers underneath. Nightstands and wardrobes sit on both sides of the bed as well.

16ML

  • Unladen Vehicle Weight: 3,768 lbs
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 4,795 lbs
  • Hitch Weight: 412 lbs
  • Exterior Length: 20′
  • Fresh Water/Grey Water/Black Water: 42 gal/74 gal/37 gal

Now we can move on to a slightly larger floorplan. The 16ML also includes a slideout to create some extra space. Like the 15RB, the back of this trailer has a full-width bathroom. However, the layout of the kitchen is quite different. The refrigerator sits against one wall, while an L-shaped counter occupies the other. There are lots of overhead cabinets, plus a mounted TV.

Interestingly, this floorplan doesn’t include a dinette. Instead, a sleeper sofa sits inside a small slideout. This is a good place to relax and eat, but it can also turn into an additional bed. A queen bed takes up the rest of the space in the front and it comes with a wardrobe and a set of overhead storage cabinets as well.

The 16ML also includes pass-through storage space underneath the front section of the trailer. It runs along the entire width of the vehicle and is perfect for storing bulky items.

18BH

  • Unladen Vehicle Weight: 4,064 lbs
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 5,495 lbs
  • Hitch Weight: 441 lbs
  • Exterior Length: 21′ 11″
  • Fresh Water/Grey Water/Black Water: 42 gal/74 gal/37 gal

Finally, we have the largest trailer of the bunch. The 18BH is a bit heavier and more expensive than the others, but the differences are minimal when you look at all the benefits you receive in return.

This is another bunkhouse model, but it has separate areas for the bunks and the main bed. The rear of this trailer is split between a bunk nook, a bathroom, and a wardrobe/pantry. A single slideout in the main section holds kitchen appliances like the refrigerator, stove, and microwave.

A sink and countertop stretch across one wall and the dinette occupies the rest of the space. The bar tabletop dinette comes with four seats, so there’s plenty of room for everyone to sit down and eat together. It faces a large window and a mounted TV. You’ll always be entertained while you eat.

Finally, there’s a queen Murphy bed along the front wall. It can act as a bed or a sofa, which is perfect for the flexible layout. A privacy curtain can be drawn around the bed as well to give a bit of separation from the rest of the vehicle.
