RVs are designed for long hauls, but people aren’t! These driving accessories will help you stay comfortable on a road trip, whether you’re the driver or passenger…
There’s nothing worse than arriving at your destination after a long, uncomfortable drive that leaves you irritable even before setup begins.
While RV designers put a lot of work into making the cab comfortable, they can’t cater to all of our individual needs. Some of us need more lumbar or tushy support. Some need heat or to be cooled down.
And we all need little nifty accessories to make the drive more enjoyable.
Here are ten products that will help you and your passenger stay comfortable on a road trip…
10 Driving Comfort Accessories for Drivers & Passengers
I tried to include something for everyone on this list. Granted, some of these items are only for the passenger, but as I like to say, “Happy passenger, happy driver.”
We start off the list with physical comforts and then move into what I think are must-have travel accessories that help you stay comfortable on a road trip.

When sitting for hours on end, your tuchus suffers the brunt of the discomfort. Your cheeks get sore, your tailbone starts to ache, and you’re surprised your built-in padding isn’t doing the trick!
If your RV seat cushion isn’t cutting it, then I recommend this Everlasting Comfort seat cushion. It’s made to be used anywhere but works well in an RV.
You might be skeptical of its odd shape, but the reviewers swear by it and how it relieves both buttocks and back pain.
If your tush is just fine, but you find yourself arching and stretching your back repeatedly, you probably need more lumbar support.
This lumbar support pillow is the same brand as the seat cushion, and you’ll actually see this brand a couple of more times on this list. They really live up to their name of “everlasting comfort.”
Again, it’s designed to be used anywhere. So, once you arrive at your destination, you can move it to your dining chair, couch, or even camping chair.
If you need both lumbar and bottom support to stay comfortable on a road trip, then the next bundle is for you…
This bundles the last two recommended products together. So, if you need full back and bottom support, then this combo is for you.
As mentioned, Everlasting Comfort is a highly regarded brand when it comes to seated comfort. These supports are made with a breathable mesh cover that allows air to flow through and high-quality memory foam.
The adjustable straps keep the back cushion secure on any chair and the non-slip rubber bottom keeps the seat cushion in place even when you shift in your seat.
Now, this product is a comfortable foot rest for the passenger. It’s something that most people don’t think about but can help you stay comfortable on a road trip.
It’s designed to go under a desk but works great in an RV as well. It is undoubtedly a much safer option than putting your feet on the dash or even curling them up in your seat.
Like the other Everlasting Comfort products, it’s made of high-quality memory foam and is a tear-dropped shape for ergonomic support. It promotes circulation and keeps your feet from falling asleep while you’re on the road.

There are some snazzy-looking heated seat covers with massagers and all the bells and whistles. But, none of them are very reliable or well-reviewed.
From my research, it seems like the more straightforward (and more affordable) option is actually the best if you’re looking for heated seats for your RV.
This seat cushion offers lumbar support, but more importantly, it’s a 12v heated seat with low and high-temperature control. It’s great for cold days or simply for relaxing your muscles on a long drive.
Where one person likes heated seats, another likes cooling seats. Or, perhaps you like both but during different seasons!
I wanted to include a cooling car seat cushion on this list, but it was pretty hard to find a good one. This Zone Tech model has consistently high reviews.
One particular reviewer sold me on the product with “People with sweaty butts and backs all over the world need this… Never again will I arrive to my destination with a sweaty butt. Never again.”
If that doesn’t say it all, then I don’t know what would.
I’m hesitant to recommend this for drivers because it’s so comfy I’d be scared you’d fall asleep at the wheel. So, I’m going to limit this recommendation to passengers.
This travel pillow offers 3 ways to support your head, neck, and chin. Yep, you’re chin, too! That’s what sets this travel pillow aside from all of the others.
It comes in a bunch of colors and designs, but even if it was ugly, I’d still recommend it.
There are a lot of book lights available, but I like this one for a few good reasons. For one, it has 3 brightness settings. For two, the battery lasts a long time (up to 70 hours!).
For three and most importantly, it’s rechargeable! No scrounging for batteries or adding to battery waste in our landfills.
I recommend these wireless earbuds for both drivers and passengers. However, my recommendation only applies to drivers if and only if you only wear one while driving, not both!
Driving while listening to two earbuds is dangerous, and wearing headphones while driving is even illegal in several states.
You always want to make sure the volume doesn’t supersede the road noise, as we use our ears to drive nearly as much as our eyes.
But, I also know that an audiobook, podcasts, or music can help keep us awake and alert while driving. That’s when these earbuds come in handy if safely used.
Driving into the sunset is a romantic notion until you realize the sun is blinding you as you drive down the road. These polarized sunglasses will help keep it a romantic notion.
This classic sporty design works well for both men and women. They’re great for driving and are also excellent fishing sunglasses.
Best of all, they’re affordable. No worries if you lose or break them during your travels!
