Awesome little 2-ways! I originally purchased one of these radios to help over come the challenges of instant communication between my parents property and where I camp at the Grand Canyon Caverns. There is very, very little cell service in that area of rural Arizona.I already had a pair of Midland X-talkers that this radio would connect to. The campground is located 2.6 miles as the crow flies from my parents home. The terrain is hilly with scrub oak scattered through. The only way that I could hear…

Short range/ poor audio quality/ poor customer support Bought for cheap mobile to base use. The best range without extreme breakup Is perhaps 2 mile line of sight. Even used a 6db gain antenna on roof of vehicle. I returned to my local KC midland radio office for repair of the known receive gain issue. This is where they “fix” the issue by taking away the weather radio feature to increase the receive gain. Did not notice any difference. Was also told when the new models are released in fall of 2018, I would get one as replacement. When I went back…

With the stock antenna, I can get about a mile and a half to two miles in heavily developed suburban areas, and a little less than a mile in the city (this was transmitting to a smaller midland handheld unit). In open…
