Traffic flow resumed on the freeway between Blythe and Indio , following a police chase of an errant recreational vehicle that ended under musterious circumstances.
The California Highway patrol was mum on exactly why Interstate 10 was closed in both directions, with no detour available, at 10:39 a.m. at the Eagle Mountain Road interchange near Chiriaco Summit.
The incident described only as “police activity” — a term commonly used for a police shooting, armed standoff or investigation of a serious incident.
Caltrans spokeswoman Terri Kasinga said the incident began when an RV was observed being driven erratically in Banning, about 70 miles from the closure scene. A CHP unit tried to stop the RV in Palm Springs, and chased it halfway to Arizona.
